Adventures in Art: Lecture by Sue Hubbard

Thursday 10th June, Abbot Hall, Kendal

Adventure-in-art-1

So what, in a contemporary western society, is art for? As a poet Sue Hubbard has spent twenty years writing about it. The process of looking involved in writing a poem, the long maturation, the editing, the elimination and constant reappraisal, is not so different to the creation of art. Sue Hubbard’s own art writing career has coincided with one of the most explosive periods of British art. Her aim has been to help readers find what is worth looking at and why, and to provide them the means to make their own way across the slippery slopes of modern and contemporary art. In this talk she will be reading from her new book: ‘Adventures in Art’.

Lecture starts at 6.30pm, wine is served from 6.00pm ‘Friends of the Lakeland Arts Trust’ £5.75, Adults £8.00, Young People £5.75 (Includes a glass of wine or juice)
