"I LOVE RECYCLING" is a limited edition multiple in an edition of 5,000. Commissioned and published by Creatively Recycled Empire; the work owes its vibrancy to the lithographic process where each colour is applied as pure pigment. The text references Blake’s passion for recycling. "I LOVE LONDON" is its companion piece.
As with his earlier 'multiple' Babe Rainbow 1967, the signature is in the print. Each print comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Born in 1932, Sir Peter Blake studied at the Royal College of Art, (1953-56) where he later taught (1964-76). Known for his iconic album cover for the Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper, it was during the 1960s that Blake emerged as a painter, frequently using collages of advertisements and Pop icons to capture the culture of the period.
He also worked with printmaking and painting and in 1975 founded The Brotherhood of Ruralists, a group of seven painters who united in their love of the countryside. Blake’s work is held in several collections worldwide including Museum of Modern Art, New York; Bilbao Fine Arts Museum; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australia; Tate Gallery, London; MUMOK - Museum of Moderner Kunst Stiftlung Ludwig and Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
