Distortion at Venice Biennale

June 1, 2009 by Ellie

The 53rd International Art Exhibition, titled Making Worlds / Fare Mondi / Bantin Duniyan / 制造世界 / Weltenmachen / Construire des Mondes / Fazer Mundos, etc., directed by Daniel Birnbaum, will open to the public from June 7th to November 22nd 2009 in the Giardini and the Arsenale exhibition venues, as well as in various other locations around the city.

This year, James Putnam has curated 'Distortion', which features works by many Other Criteria associated artists - Mat Collishaw, John Isaacs, Alastair Mackie, Tim Noble & Sue Webster and Gavin Turk - and which stems from the use of distorting effects in painting, notably from the 16th century Venetian tradition.
