SNAP: Group art exhibition at the Aldeburgh Festival

June 13, 2011 by Kay

10th June - 26th June

SNAP, specially curated for the Festival, is an exhibition of works by an extraordinary group of artists who in recent years have all gravitated towards Suffolk and Norfolk.

Colonising the derelict and developed spaces at Snape Maltings, the show brings together leading international members of the art world.

SNAP will bring together sculpture, video, photography and drawings, with work by Darren Almond, Don Brown, Cerith Wyn Evans, Mark Fuller, Russell Haswell, Gary Hume, Johnnie Shand Kydd, Abigail Lane, Simon Liddiment, Sarah Lucas, Julian Simmons and Juergen Teller.

All the artists have a connection with East Anglia: whether by birth, as somewhere they call home, as a place they’ve holidayed or where they now work.

The work will be displayed throughout Snape, using foyers, derelict buildings, and the outdoors, offering the chance to see art outside a conventional gallery.

On Thursday 23 June at 11am there will be a discussion chaired by the art critic Louisa Buck with Michael Craig-Martin, the celebrated artist and teacher about the artists included in SNAP.

Free. No ticket required. For more information visit the Aldeburgh website.
