April 18, 2012 by Kay

Video screenings from 11am-7pm at Clark House, Bombay 13th - 22nd April 2012

So Sorry, 2011 | Ordos 100, 2011 | One Recluse, 2010 | Disturbing the Peace, 2009 | Fairytale, 2007

Arranging Chairs for Ai Weiwei' is a ten-day screening of videos directed by contemporary Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, from the 12th to the 22nd of April 2012. Four films feature the artist's documentation of acts that elaborate the excesses of the state. The films deal with bureaucratic corruption, obstruction of justice, state violence, suppression of human rights, and his own personal struggle with surveillance by the police.

For more information visit the Clark House Initiative website.

Still from So Sorry, 2011

Clark House Initiative, Bombay is a curatorial practice about a place, which in sharing a junction with two museums and a cinema, mirrors the fiction of what these spaces could be. Clark House was once an office of pharmaceutical research, an antiques store, and the shipping office of the Thakur Shipping Company that had links to countries in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Japan. Curatorial interventions in the space hope to continue, differently, this history of internationalism, experiment and research. It was established in 2010 as a curatorial collaborative concerned with ideas of freedom.
