John Isaacs was born in Lancaster, UK in 1968 and studied at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, Dijon in 1990; completed a BA in fine art at Cheltenham Art College in 1991, and an MA in sculpture at London Slade School of Art in 1993.
He has exhibited extensively on an international level. Exhibitions include Wonderful Life, Lisson Gallery, London, 1993; Young British Artists 6, Saatchi Gallery, London, 1996; Spectacular Bodies, Hayward Gallery, London, 2000; Century City, Tate Modern, 2001; Minimal Maximal, Kyoto National Museum of Art, Japan, 2001; Voices from the ID, Beaconsfield, London, 2002; Mike Kelley - The Uncanny, Tate Liverpool, 2004; Les Grandes Spectacles, Museum der Moderne, Salzburg, 2005; Murdeme Collection, Serpentine Gallery, London, 2006-2007. Isaacs was guest lecturer at The Getty Foundation Los Angeles in 2005 and had his third solo show with Museum 52 in October 2007.

Viewing Room at the Crypt, All Visual Arts
All Visual Arts presents Viewing Room, curated by Joe La Placa and Mark Sanders, this exhibition brings together 36 contemporary artists that have been represented or affiliated with the organization since its advent in 2008. Artists include John Isaacs, Wolfe von Lenkiewicz, Tom Ormond, Tim Noble & Sue Webster.

Glasstress — White Light/White Heat, Contemporary artists and glass
Collateral Event of the 55th International Art Exhibition – LaBiennale di Venezia
Glasstress: White Light / White Heat will open at the preview of the Venice Biennale on 31st May at the Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti on the Grand Canal and at the Berengo Centre for Contemporary Art and Glass accompanied by dynamic performances from Alice Anderson and Cai Guo Qiang.
The show presents the newly commissioned work of some of today’s most important contemporary artists, most of whom will be working in glass for the first time. Artists include Fiona Banner, Mat Collishaw, Tracey Emin, Paul Fryer, John Isaacs, Michael Joo, Tim Noble & Sue Webster and others. The exhibition is co-curated by Adriano Berengo and James Putnam.

Freedom Not Genius: Works from Damien Hirst’s Murderme collection

“Collecting is like stuff washed up on a beach somewhere and that somewhere is you. Then when you die, it all gets washed away again,” Damien Hirst.
Work by John Isaacs will be in The Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli exhibition displaying selected works from Damien Hirst’s Murderme collection.

Berlin Pillar of Art 2010
The third in the series, Berlin Pillar of Art project is an initiative first set up by Art Below’s Ben Moore whereby 14 foot high pillars in the districts of Berlin Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg are adorned with works by selected artists.
