Richard Prince was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1949 and moved to New York in 1973. He had his first solo show in 1983 at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London. Since then he has exhibited in numerous important solo and group shows throughout the world. Prince is represented by Gagosian Gallery and Gladstone Gallery, New York and Sadie Coles HQ, London. He lives and works in Upstate New York.

In this exhibition, Richard Prince, a part-time resident of the East End of Long Island and the 2009 Guild Hall Lifetime Achievement Award Winner in the Visual Arts, will show a new body of work that uses appropriated imagery. This imagery is based on the series of photographs of the artist Jackson Pollock at work. Jackson Pollock was one of the leaders of the Abstract Expressionist movement, the quintessentially vanguard art movement in America. -

After the Musée du Louvre and the Château de Versailles where Jan Fabre’s and Jeff Koons’ works were respectively presented, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France also opts for contemporary creation, inviting the worldwide famous American artist, Richard Prince. Especially well-known for his cow boy photographs illustrating Marlboro advertising campaigns and for his series of ‘nurse’ paintings, the artist is the best at depicting the American fin de siècle. Collecting Biennials in NY
See a huge collection of art at Collecting Biennials, a recently opened exhibition at Whitney Mueum of American Art on Madison Avenue which runs until November 2010. The exhibition includes artists such as Ashley Bickerton, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Richard Prince, Mark Rothko, Ed Ruscha, Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol.
