Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition 2010

June 16, 2010 by Kay

The Royal Academy of Arts opened their annual Summer Exhibition on Monday, which is the world's largest open submission for contemporary art.

Open until the 22nd August, the exhibition includes over 11,000 entries made up of a huge range of media from both established and emerging artists. Some of the more well known artists include Michael Craig-Martin, Sarah Lucas, Gary Hume, Ed Ruscha, Gary Webb, Tracey Emin and Rachel Howard. Or for up and coming artists, check out the 10 selected prints available for under £500 each. For the full list of exhibitors, click here.

This year is the 242nd year and the co-ordinators, Royal Academicians Stephen Chambers and David Chipperfield have chosen the theme 'Raw' for the exhibition. Read about why this theme was chosen, how it has influenced the show and what rawness in art means to Stephen Chambers in this article in the RA Magazine.
