ARTS FESTIVAL: Christmas Arts Festival in Stroud

December 5, 2012 by Kay

7th - 18th December 2012

The Brunel Goods Shed, Stroud Train Station, Stroud, GL5 3AP

Stroud is getting its own arts festival for Christmas this year, when the Brunel Goods Shed will play host to 12 days of art and festive events. The festival will kick off on Friday 7th December with the grand opening of an art exhibition, where 14 local artists – under the collective name of Freezer – will display new work offering an artists’ view of Christmas. The opening of the Freezer show, which will run until 18th December, will also feature a Santa’s Grotto and a free drop of wine, beer or cider for visitors.

Other events during the 12 day festival include a Christmas quiz hosted by infamous local quizzer Johnny Quiz, a festive Sunday Sale where vintage clothes and other delights will be on offer, a Nativity life drawing class, and a series of pop-up shops where anything from blue baubles to tin cans will be available to buy.

Organiser and Freezer artist Madeleine Osbourne said: “We wanted to bring something new to Stroud this Christmas. There will be over a dozen local artists showing work over the 12 days. And there will be lots of other events for people to get involved in too, whether it’s doing some life drawing or an alternative Christmas quiz.  The Goods Shed is such an excellent venue and a perfect place for people to see new local art and get involved in some of the many events.  We’re very lucky to have the backing of the SVA to let us host this unique festival.
