VIDEO: Mali Morris - Drift

January 28, 2014 by Kay

Elected an RA in 2010, Mali Morris is known for her abstract paintings that have complex inner rhythms of colour and form. ‘How colour operates is always surprising,’ she says, ‘it makes a luminosity that opens up space in a painting. If you get things right, it can transform flat, inert canvas and pigment into something that is constantly alive and shifting, a world inside a world. Working on this new print, Drift, with Other Criteria was an education and a pleasure. I discovered just how different making a print is from painting. It was like turning everything inside out. And it's given me some new directions to try out back in my own studio'
