Born in Ulverston, UK in 1969, British artist Keith Tyson studied Mechanical Engineering Craft Studies before graduating from Carlisle College of Art and University of Brighton.
Fascinated by the interconnectedness of the universe, Tyson’s practice encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture and installation. Attention to detail and scientific praxis is central to his work, as is the meticulous thought process involved in creating.
Tyson was awarded the ICA Arts and Innovation Award, 1996; The Turner Prize in 2002 and an Honorary Degree of Doctors and Letters by the University of Brighton in 2005. He continues to exhibit worldwide and to great acclaim. Amongst the galleries and institutions are PaceWildenstein, New York, USA; Louisiana Museum, Denmark; Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle, UK, Arndt & Partner, Berlin and Zürich, and Haunch of Venison London and Zürich.
