Adam Dix in the Jerwood Drawing Prize

September 20, 2013 by Kay

11 September - 27 October 2013

171 Union Street, Bankside, London, SE1 0LN

Selected from original art works, and now in its 19th year in this format, the Jerwood Drawing Prize has established a reputation for its commitment to championing excellence and exploring the boundaries of contemporary drawing practice within the UK.

This competition is a platform for drawing practitioners to showcase their work alongside other leading contemporary artists in this field, and provides those selected with the opportunity to help define the concept of drawing for future generations.

This year, the Jerwood Drawing Prize 2013 welcomes three exceptional leading art experts onto its panel: Kate Brindley, Director of Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art mima; Michael Craig-Martin RA, artist; and Charlotte Mullins, art critic, writer, broadcaster, and Editor of Art Quarterly, who will create an exhibition that explores and celebrates the diversity, excellence and range of current drawing practice in the UK.

The Prize is open to all UK based artists, from student to established, working with drawing. From an anticipated submission of well over 2,000 entries, the selectors will bring together between 50 and 70 works for an exhibition at JVA at Jerwood Space, London from 11 September – 27 October 2013. The exhibition will then tour to venues across the UK, including, for the first time, the Sidney Cooper Gallery, Canterbury Christ Church University in March 2014.
